Investigation Into Fatal Stabbing at 4000 Griggs

December 31, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a woman found at 4000 Griggs about 7 a.m. on Saturday (Dec. 29).


The victim, Delena Anderson, 29, of the above address, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Pool and Senior Police Officer S. Straughter reported:

Ms. Anderson was inside her apartment when she got into an argument with the father of her children, identified as Steven Dale Hancock, 50, of the above address. Anderson and Hancock were in the living room while their children and Anderson's younger brother were alseep in other rooms in the apartment. Anderson's brother was awakened by the noise and witnessed his sister being assaulted. The brother then confronted Hancock, who threatened him with an ice pick and then pointed a small pistol at him. Hancock then fled the scene and the brother called 911. HFD emergency personnel transported Anderson to the hospital where she died.

Shortly after the 911 call, HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at 5400 Scott. When officers arrived, they found Hancock deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
