January 9, 2012 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in a fatal traffic accident at 4100 Washington Avenue about 1:40 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 7).

Rebecca Blair Bowman (w/f, DOB: 7-19-92) is charged with accident involving injury and intoxication manslaughter in the 263rd State District Court.  A photo of the suspect is attached to this news release.

The victim, Luis Alberto Dorante, 23, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Tapia and Officer J. Morales reported:

Mr. Dorante was leaving a bar at the above address when he stepped into the street and was struck by a black Chevrolet Suburban traveling eastbound on Washington.  Witnesses reported that Bowman, driving the Suburban, was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop after striking Vorante.  Officers located te Suburban a few blocks away and arrested Bowman without incident.
