Suspect Arrested, Charged in Toddler's Death at 2475 Gray Falls #416

January 24, 2012 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in connection with the death a toddler found unresponsive at 2475 Gray Falls #416 about 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 10.

The suspect, Jashual Valton Beall (w/m, DOB: 8-26-93) is charged with injury to a child in the 228th State District Court.

A photo of Beall is attached to this news release.

The victim, Casen Wells, 16-months, of the above address, suffered severe head trauma and on Jan. 10 was transported by Life Flight helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead last Friday (Jan. 20).  Results of an autopsy by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences are pending.

HPD Juvenile Division Officers D.L. Fontenot and J.E. Alvarez reported:

On January 10, baby Casen was reportedly found unconscious by his stepfather, suspect Beall, and his mother.  Casen was transported to the hospital where doctors determined he was suffering from severe head trauma.

Further investigation determined the trauma did not appear consistent with the statements made by Beall about how that trauma occurred.  On Friday (Jan. 20), Beall was arrested without incident and charged with injury to a child.

Any additional charges will be determined after a review of autopsy results by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
