UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8111 South Gessner

July 05, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 8111 South Gessner about 1 p.m. on May 13.

Wilberto Arrellano (H/m, DOB: 5-25-85) is charged with murder in the 174th State District Court.  A photo of Arrellano is attached to this news release.

The victim, Roy Valdez, 20, of Houston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants W. Meeler, C. Howard and E. Cisneros reported:

Houston police officers responded to a reported shooting call at the Taquera Cancun restaurant at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found a patron, Mr. Valdez, had been shot several times. 

Valdez was reportedly at the restaurant with four other males, who along with several other witnesses, fled the scene when the shooting began.

Further investigation led to the identification of Arrellano as a suspect in this case and, on Tuesday (July 3), he was arrested without incident.
