UPDATE: Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at 702 North Sam Houston Parkway

July 17, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 702 North Sam Houston Parkway East  service road (North Beltway 8) about 2 a.m. on June 4.

The suspect, John Gregory Gammon (w/m, DOB: 8-24-65), is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court in the death of Jason Windham, 40.  Mr. Windham suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.

A photo of Gammon, who is currently in the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges, is not available at this time, pending further investigation.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Whitehead and Senior Police Officer B. Nabors reported:

Mr. Windham and his girlfriend were staying at a hotel at the above address.  At approximately 2 a.m. there was a knock on the door and Windham answered.  Several unknown male suspects then forced their way into the room, struggled with Windham and then shot him.  He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Gammon as the suspect in this case and, last Thursday (July 12), he was charged in Windham's death.
