Investigation into Fatal Stabbing at 10010 Cullen

July 23, 2012 - The fatal stabbing of a man at 10010 Cullen about 2 a.m. on Saturday (July 21) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male, Demarcus Dwayne West, 30, of the above address, was pronounced dead at Ben Taub General Hospital.

The female involved, Mr. West's girlfriend, was questioned and released at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Wilson and Senior Police Officer M. Stahlin reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a cutting call at the above location and found Mr. West had been stabbed.  West was transported to the hospital where he died.

Further investigation determined West and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument inside their apartment and, according to West's girlfriend, he grabbed her and tried to choke her.  The girlfriend broke free and then stabbed West in an attempt to defend herself.   It is believed the couple had a history of domestic violence for several years.
