Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 6300 Main

June 20, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal auto pedestrian accident in the 6300 block of Main about 9:20 a.m on Tuesday (July 19).


The female victim, 30, of Houston, was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Central Patrol Senior Police Officer P. Briscoe reported:

The female victim was attempting to cross the street at the intersection of Main and Cambridge. As the victim crossed the street, a Grey Acura MDX, traveling south on Main, had the green light. A vehicle next to the Acura stopped in the middle of the intersection and the Acura continued forward, hitting the victim. The victim, who was pregnant, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where the child was delivered by emergency surgery. The baby remains in critical condition. The driver of the Acura was questioned and released at the scene.

The investigation continues.
