Houston Police Department
Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9850 Westpark Drive

June 21, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of three people and wounding of two others at 9850 Westpark Drive about 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday (June 20).

The deceased victims are identified as Coy Thompson, 23, Erica Rochelle Dotson, 30, and Carlos Durell Dorsey, 31. Two other victims, Willie Watkins, 37, and Frazier Othel Thompson, 31, suffered gunshot wounds and were transported to Ben Taub General Hospital and Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Chandler and J. Brooks, and Senior Police Officers K. Carr and C. Cegielski reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot at the above location. Officers arrived and found five victims had been shot, three of them were deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined Frazier Thompson, also known as rap artist Trae the Truth, had just performed a concert inside a club at the location. As patrons were leaving the club at closing time, shots were fired. Further investigation determined Coy Thompson was the intended target of the shooting and the other victims were struck by the gunfire intended for him.

Additional information determined Coy Thompson, also known as "Poppa C," had gotten into a domestic dispute last Sunday (June 17) and received threats on his life.

Investigators also determined Coy Thompson had been involved in a similar shooting incident outside a nightclub at 9600 Bissonnet on Nov. 25, 2011, in which Dominique Brown, also known as "Money Clip" was killed. No arrests have been made in that ongoing investigation. At this time, it has not been determined if these two incidents are related.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
