Suspect Arrested, Charged in Incident at 10001 Westpark Drive

June 22, 2012 - Charges have been filed against an armed suspect arrested in an incident in which a Houston Police officer discharged his duty weapon at 10001 Westpark Drive about 5 p.m. on Thursday (June 21).


The suspect, Kendrick Bernard Jackson (b/m, DOB: 11-22-85), is charged with aggravated assault against a public servant and felon in possession of a weapon in the 178th State District Court. A photo of Jackson is attached to this news release.

Officer A.M. Wright, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in this incident. Officer Wright was sworn in as an officer in April, 2009 and is assigned to the Westside Patrol Division.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer M. Condon and Officer J. Dominguez reported:

Jackson was observed in an apartment complex parking lot at the above address with a pistol in his hand. HPD patrol officers arrived and pursued Jackson on foot. During the foot chase, Jackson pointed his pistol at Officer Wright, who, fearing for his safety, discharged his duty weapon. Jackson was not struck and shortly after he was arrested on the apartment complex grounds. Jackson's pistol was recovered at the scene of his arrest.

As is customary when a HPD officer discharges a weapon in the city limits, this incident is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
