Fatal Traffic Accident at 2700 Kelley

June 26, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident on 2700 Kelley at Jensen about 4:50 p.m. on Monday (June 25).


The male victim, 70, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Perry and Officer C. Semien reported:

The driver of a red Saturn Ion was traveling eastbound on Kelley when he ran the red light at the intersection of Jensen and struck a silver Toyota T100 pickup truck. The Toyota then burst into flames. A witness assisted in putting out the fire and getting the victims out of the Toyota. The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital where he died. The female passenger of the Toyota was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The 29-year-old male driver of the Saturn was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition.

The investigation is continuing.
