Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 90 Northpoint

March 5, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 90 Northpoint Drive about 10:15 p.m. on Saturday (March 3).

The victim, Rodrigo Rodriguez Carranza, 31, of the above address was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant G. Gonzales and Senior Police Officer X. Avila reported:

Officers responded to a shooting at the Northpark Apartments and found Mr. Carranza suffering from a gunshot wound.  Carranza and his cousin were seated in a vehicle in the parking lot at the above address when they were approached by two male suspects who attempted to rob them.  During the robbery, one suspect fired his weapon, striking Carranza.  The suspects, described only as two black males, fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.
