HPD Officers Team to Catch Three Armed Robbers in Midst of a Crime Spree

November 6, 2012 -  Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident in the 2200 block of West Tidwell about 1:05 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 5). 

The suspect, Oscar Garza-Valdez (H/m, DOB: 9-10-87), is charged with criminally negligent homicide in the 178th State District Court.  A photo of Garza-Valdez is attached to this news release. 
The female victim, 71, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant N. Perry and Officer A. Michon reported: 

Garza-Valdez was driving a silver Chevrolet Avalanche at a high rate of speed westbound on West Tidwell.  According to witnesses, the Avalanche ran a red light at the intersection of Duoto and struck a blue Chevrolet Impala traveling southbound on Duoto.  The driver of the Impala was killed.  A 10-year-old female passenger in the Impala was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

Garza-Valdez was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently charged.
