Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 5000 Southwest Freeway

October 15, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run traffic accident at 5000 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 2:50 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 14).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Cross and Senior Police Officers D. Garner and S. Bolton reported:

The victim, a pedestrian, was discovered in the inbound middle lanes of the Southwest Freeway by a passing witness and an HPD officer, who attempted to render aid. The witness was traveling north on the freeway when he saw the body in the middle lanes and several vehicles strike the victim. None of the drivers in the striking vehicles stopped to assist.
