September 10, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man at 8000 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11:55 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 9).

The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:

A Harris County Sheriff's deputy observed an accident scene that escalated into an assault.  The deputy detained several people and later saw the victim breathing heavily on the ground.  The victim appeared to have been stabbed in the chest.  He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Investigators detained and questioned several people.

No charges have been filed at this time.
