UPDATE: Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 406 East 43rd

September 17, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 406 East 43rd Street about 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 31.

The suspect, Cedric Keith Jones (b/m, DOB: 6-6-72), is charged with murder and aggravated assault - serious bodily injury in the 179th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Dwayne Mitchell, 26, and wounding of Gilbert Mitchell, 23.

HPD Homicide Division Officers J. Dominguez, M. Chaney and D. Fontenot reported:

The two victims, who are brothers, were in the driveway at the above residence when they got into an argument with Jones.  When the argument escalated, Jones pulled a gun and shot both victims multiple times.  Jones fled the scene before officers and paramedics arrived.  Dwayne Mitchell died at Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital and his brother suffered non life-threatening wounds and is being treated at an area hospital.
