Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 5839 Glenhurst

September 27, 2012 - The fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 5839 Glenhurst about 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 26) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury. 

The unidentified male suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

The male shooter, 58, suffered a non life-threatening gunshot wound to the back and was treated at the scene. 

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer T. Tyler reported: 

The homeowner had just arrived at his residence at the above address when he was approached by two armed male suspects, who forced him into the residence at gunpoint.  The suspects then ordered two other family members, an adult female and a juvenile, onto the floor and held them at gunpoint while they searched the residence.  The homeowner managed to get a gun  and exchanged gunfire with the suspects, fatally striking one.  The second suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.  It is unknown at this time if the second suspect was struck by the gunfire.
