Investigation into Apparent Accidental Drowning at 3200 Brisbane

August 5, 2013 - Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental drowning of a juvenile male, a juvenile female and an adult male at 3200 Brisbane about 10:35 a.m. on Sunday (Aug. 4).

The adult male, Laurencio Guidel, 31, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two juveniles, Ricardo Guidel, 9, and Diana Morales, 5, of Houston, were transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Holbrook and Senior Police Officer P. Vela reported:

Laurencio and Ricardo Guidel, Diana Morales and a second male juvenile, 12, were fishing and swimming in a drainage ditch/bayou at the above address when Ricardo and the other juvenile began drowning. As Laurencio attempted to rescue them, Diana Morales fell in the water and also began drowning. HPD officers and HFD paramedics responded to the scene and administered CPR to the juveniles. They were then transported to the hospital where they died. Laurencio's body was recovered a short time later by the HPD Dive Team.

The investigation is continuing.
