Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 17050 Imperial Valley

August 19, 2013 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 17050 Imperial Valley about 3:10 p.m. on Friday (Aug. 16).

The victim, 36, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. French and Officers E. Zugner and J. Saldana reported:

The victim was home with his brother and roommate when an unknown male knocked at the door. When the residents answered the door, the suspect entered, produced a pistol, and ordered everyone to get on the ground, with the apparent intent to rob them. The victim struggled with suspect and during the struggle several shots were fired. The victim was fatally struck by the gunfire.

The suspect, described only as a black male, fled the scene on foot.
