Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 5611 Greylog

February 4, 2012 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 5611 Greylog about 6:40 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 2).

Melton James Wilson (b/m, DOB: 7-31-86) is charged with murder in the 230th State District Court. He is accused in the death of Joe Lee Thompson, Jr., 32, of Houston.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Officers C. Scales and K. Daignault reported:

Mr. Thompson was attending a family gathering at Wilson's residence when the two men got into a verbal argument. Wilson then asked Thompson to leave the house and the argument became physical, with Thompson pushing Wilson around the kitchen. Wilson then went to a bedroom and returned with a loaded pistol. He then shot Thompson multiple times. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. Wilson was taken into custody at the scene without incident.
