Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1824 Portsmouth

February 4, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at 1824 Portsmouth about 7:45 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 1).

The victim, Ashley Scott Rowell, 35, of the above address, suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Harris and S. Murdock and Officers K. Daignault and J. Rexroad reported:

Mr. Rowell was at his residence at the above address when he answered a knock at the door.  When he opened the door he was shot.  His wife and residents inside the house then called 911.  The unknown suspect fled the scene in a dark colored sedan.  At this time is is believed Rowell knew the suspect and the incident was not a home invasion.
