Suspects Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 4775 Beechaven

February 13, 2012 - Charges have been filed against two suspects arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 4775 Beechaven about 3:40 a.m. last Sunday (Feb. 10).

Suspect Eric Sorto (H/m, DOB: 6-10-92) is charged with murder and aggravated assault and Mauro Reyna (H/m, DOB: 11-5-94) is charged with murder out of the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office. Both are accused in the killing of Daniel Rivera, Jr., 25, of the above address, who suffered gunshot wounds and died at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Biggs and Senior Police Officer R. Bolton reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at 4775 Beechaven Drive. When officers arrived, witnesses who lived there told them someone had broken into their home and shot Mr. Rivera while he was in his bed. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Rivera to the hospital where he died. Witnesses also told investigators they heard gunshots and when they came out of their bedroom, they were confronted by a Hispanic male suspect with a gun. The suspect pointed the gun at the female witness and then fled the scene.

Further investigation and witness statements identified Sorto (the shooter) and Reyna as the suspects in this case. Both suspects remain in custody in the Fort Bend County Jail.
