Suspect Arrested, Charged in Child's Death at 16811 City View Place

January 11, 2012 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the beating death of a child at 16811 City View Place about 9 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 10).

Tyrone Jefferson (b/m, DOB: 11-29-88) is charged with capital murder in the 177th State District Court.  He is accused in the death of Ja'shaun Davis, 2, who was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.  A photo of Jefferson is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officers P. Vela and M. Condon reported:

Jefferson, the victim's father, stated to officers he had spanked the child with a belt after he had urinated where he sleeps.  Jefferson stated during the incident the boy began struggling to breath and became unresponsive.  He then called 9-1-1 and the boy was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased.  The boy had multiple bruises throughout his body.
