January 28, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 13500 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) service road about 5:10 a.m. on Sunday (Jan. 27).

The male victim, 28, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Park and Senior Police Officer D. Schlichter reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported auto-pedestrian accident at the above address.  When they arrived, they found the victim lying in the middle of the service road.  He had apparently been attempting to cross the service road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle, whose driver then fled the scene.
