Houston Police Department
Suspect Arrested in Incident at 6247 Willow Bend Boulevard

January 28, 2012 - Charges are pending against a suspect arrested in a burglary at 6247 Willow Bend Boulevard about 3 a.m. on Saturday (Jan. 26).

Justin Edwin Wingate (w/m, DOB: 4-16-67) has a pending charge of burglary of a business.  No photo of Wingate is available at this time.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Officer I. Duplechain reported:

Parishioners of the Templo Hermosa Church, located at the above address, responded to reports of a burglar alarm.  Upon arrival, they discovered Wingate in the church office.  Initially, he attempted to flee through the ceiling tiles, however, he abandoned that attempt and was held by parishioners until police arrived.  Once in police custody, Wingate began to complain he was not feeling well.  HFD paramedics were called to the scene and then transported him to an area hospital.

The initial  investigation determined Wingate had entered the building after using a sledgehammer to break a hole in the brick wall.  Several musical instruments had been taken from the church and placed in a field behind the building.  At least one other unknown burglary suspect is believed to have fled the scene.

Anyone with information about this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or the HPD Burglary and Theft Division at 713-308-0900.
