Investigation into Male's Death at 8701 Hammerly

July 22, 2013 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found at 8701 Hammerly #735 about 10:20 p.m. on Sunday (July 21). 

The man, Oswaldo Villa Cruz, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Officer J. Villareal reported:  

Patrol officers were called to the Village Park apartments at the above address in regards to a possible suicide.  Officers found Mr. Cruz deceased on a third floor landing, near the shattered window of an apartment unit.  

Cruz suffered severe lacerations to one arm.  Witnesses reported that Cruz was beating on an apartment door seconds before hearing the sound of shattering glass.  Investigators learned the apartment was that of Cruz’s former girlfriend. 

The cause and manner of death will be determined by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  No foul play is suspected at this time.
