Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 2300 North Ceasar Chavez

March 13, 2012 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 2300 block of North Ceasar Chavez about 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday (March 13). 

The male victim's identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant I. Izaguirre and Officer J. Perrotte reported:

The vicitim was driving a silver Chrysler Sebring northbound on Ceasar Chavez at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehilce and struck a barbed wire fence.  The vehicle then continued northbound and plunged into Buffalo Bayou.  A security officer at a nearby business heard the incident and called for police.  The HPD Dive Team entered the bayou and located the vehicle with the victim still inside.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.  No other persons nor vehicles were involved in this incident.
