Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 8200 Peachtree

March 20, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 8200 Peachtree about 7 a.m. on Tuesday (March 19).

The victim, Dameon Johnson, 36, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:

Officers responded to a call regarding a major traffic accident at the above location.  When they arrived, they discovered Mr. Johnson in a ditch along the roadway.  His vehicle, a 2008 white Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, was in a ditch on the opposite side of the street.  The truck did not appear to be involved in a traffic accident.

Further investigation determined Johnson was on his way to work at the time the shooting occurred.

There is no known motive or suspect(s) at this time.

At 2 p.m. TODAY (Wednesday, March 20), a homicide investigator and members of Mr. Johnson's family will be available to answer questions and discuss the case in the Media Briefing Room on the first floor of HPD Headquarters at 1200 Travis.
