Fatal Traffic Accident at 12200 South Freeway

May 3, 2013 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in the 12200 block of the South Freeway (South Interstate Highway 288) about 2:20 a.m. today (May 3). 

The female victim, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant T. Trometer and Officer D. Hussain reported: 

According to witnesses, the driver of a green Chevrolet Traiblazer was driving southbound on the South Freeway, missed the West Orem exit and then attempted to cross three lanes of traffic.  The Trailblazer then drove onto the grassy median and the driver attempted to get back onto the South Freeway.  The driver was unable to regain control the vehicle and it rolled several times, ejecting the two passengers.  One of the passengers died at the scene, the other was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to survive.  The driver of the Traiblazer was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is also expected to survive his injuries. 
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.
