Investigation into Fatal Traffic Accident at 10200 East Freeway

October 3, 2013 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in a fatal traffic accident at 10200 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 8:30 a.m. today.

The male victim, 48, suffered an apparent medical episode prior to the accident and was transported to Lyndon Baines Johnson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His cause of death is pending an examination by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Sergeant G. Hall and Officer C. Long reported:

The victim was driving a silver Chevrolet Malibu westbound on the East Freeway when he attempted to enter the northbound entrance ramp to the East Loop (East Interstate Highway 610).  However, the vehicle left the roadway, drove through a median and crossed another ramp before coming to a stop in some brush.  The Malibu sustained minor damage and a preliminary investigation indicates the driver had a medical condition that caused the accident.

No other vehicles nor drivers were involved in this incident.
