Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 9227 Ponderosa

October 14, 2013 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of two men and the wounding of another at 9227 Ponderosa about 5:55 a.m. on Sunday (Oct. 13).

Elias Alvear-Ramirez, 27, of Houston was pronounced dead at the scene. A second victim was also pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Rodriguez and R. Blain reported:

Mr. Alvear-Ramirez was playing cards at the Las Palmas Club, at the above address, when a disturbance started with a friend of another card player (suspect). The unnamed victim attempted to intervene and the suspect shot the victim. The suspect then shot Alvear-Ramirez. A third male victim, 60, who was unrelated to the disturbance, also suffered a gunshot wound. He was transported by private car to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was treated and released.

The unknown suspect fled the scene. He is described only as a 20 to 25 year old Hispanic male, approximately five feet eight inches tall with a thin build and short black hair. He was wearing a dark shirt, blue jean shorts and red Puma tennis shoes.
