3rd Update: Third Suspect Wanted, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 10470 West Bellfort

October 15, 2013 - A third suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 10470 West Bellfort about 9 p.m. on Aug. 25 has been arrested.

The suspect, Mateo Conoz Ixtan (H/m, DOB: 9/12/91), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Cout. Jesus Francisco Morales (H/m, DOB: 8-18-95) was taken into custody on Sept. 7 and is also charged with murder in the same court. A juvenile was also arrested and referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities for his role in the shooting.

All three males are accused in the killing of Carlos Morales, 33, of Houston, who was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer C. Scales and Officer T. Ferguson reported:

Carlos Morales and an unknown male suspect got into an argument in front of a convenience store at the above address. At some point, a third person gave a gun to the suspect, who then shot Carlos several times and fled the scene in an unknown direction. Carlos was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Further investigation and evidence obtained identified Jesus Morales as the shooter in this case. Jesus Morales, no relation to the victim, voluntarily turned himself in to police and admitted to his involvement in the shooting.

Last Thursday (Oct. 10), Ixtan was arrested without incident.
