Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 13502 Northborough

October 31, 2013 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect at 13502 Northborough about 8:10 p.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 29).

The suspect, Cortdalro Damarcel Brown (b/m, DOB: 7-16-88), was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The male shooter, 29, an off-duty Winnsboro, Louisiana, reserve sheriff's deputy, was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Officers N. Rosenblatt and K. Daignault reported:

The male and his brother went to an apartment complex parking lot at the above address to meet with a female acquaintance. At some point, Brown, armed with a gun, approached in the vehicle, which the male and his brother were sitting in and attempted to rob them. Fearing for his life, the male fired his own weapon and struck Brown in the upper body. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Brown to the hospital where he later died.

Two female suspects, Jasmine Keashun West (b/f, DOB: 5-16-95), charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, and Ashley Monee Smith (b/f, DOB: 8-24-93), charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence, were arrested at the scene. Both women were subsequently charged in the 208th State District Court for their involvement in the incident. Photos of both suspects are attached to this news release.
