Suspect Charged, Wanted in Fatal Shooting at 8510 Almeda Genoa

September 02, 2013 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a woman at 8510 Almeda Genoa about 6:45 p.m. last Friday (Aug. 30).

The suspect, Obed Rodriguez (H/m, DOB: 5-8-93), is charged with capital murder in the 176th State District Court.  He is accused in the killing of Yolanda Yepez Lara, 37, of Pasadena.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. French and Officers D. Fontenot, E. Zugner and J. Saldana reported:

Two Hispanic male suspects entered the Monroe Gameroom at the above address after the security guard opened the door to the business.  Both suspects immediately produced pistols, forced the security guard to the ground and began to rob the business.  They ordered customers and employees to the ground.  During the robbery, one of the suspects fatally shot Ms. Lara, an employee of the game room.  The suspects then fled the scene on foot.

Further investigation identified Rodriguez as the suspect who shot Lara.  He is wanted at this time.  Anyone with information on Obed Rodriguez's whereabouts or the identity of the second wanted suspect is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
