September 11, 2013 - **CLARIFYING 5TH PARAGRAPH - NO NAMES OF SUSPECTS WHO ENTERED BUSINESS**
A fourth and final suspect wanted and charged in the fatal shooting of one man and the wounding of another at 7300 Washington about 10:40 p.m. on Aug. 26 is now in custody.
Kenya D. Jackson (DOB: 2-19-93), wanted for capital murder, surrendered to investigators and was taken into custody about 8:30 a.m. today (Sept. 11) without incident. He was the last remaining suspect wanted in the killing of Robert G. Placette, 64, of Katy, and the wounding of another man, 43.
The three other suspects, Leroy Houston (b/m, DOB: 10-29-94), Corey Hilton (b/m, DOB: 4-12-93) and Mario Hilton (b/m, DOB: 6-10-95) were arrested in the last week.
Photos of all four suspects are attached to this news release. Jackson's photo is from January 2013. All four are charged with capital murder in the 182nd State District Court.
Three suspects, all wearing bandanas and masks, entered the Denny's restaurant at the above location and immediately fired several shots. They ordered all customers and employees to the floor and demanded their property. During the robbery, Mr. Placette and a restaurant employee were shot. The suspects then fled the scene in an unknown minivan.
Placette was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital and the other victim was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital in stable condition.
Further information led to the identification of the Hiltons (believed to be cousins) and Jackson as suspects in this case. On Friday (Sept. 6), all three were charged and Corey and Mario Hilton were arrested and Jackson remained at-large. More information was received that led to the identification of Houston as an additional suspect in this case and, on Monday (Sept. 9), he was arrested without incident.
MEDIA NOTE: Investigators are not available for interviews in this case today.
