3rd Update: Person of Interest Sought in Fatal Shooting at 10950 Bissonnet

April 11, 2014 - Houston police are asking for the public's help in locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man at 10950 Bissonnet #B-125 about 12:30 p.m. on March 27.

The victim, Rueben Portillo, 53, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on March 28.

A surveillance photo of the person of interest, described only as a Hispanic male, is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Versluis and Officer J. Horn reported:

The suspects, described only as three Hispanic males and two Hispanic females, entered the Lucky Star Game Room and began playing the electronic slot machines. Without warning, one of the males attacked Mr. Portillo, a security guard. As the two struggled over Mr. Portillo's weapon, a second male suspect joined in the attack. During the struggle, Mr. Portillo was shot. The male suspects then robbed the persons inside the game room before all five suspects fled in a silver, two-door Honda Accord and a red Nissan Sentra with tinted windows and a rear spoiler.

The male in the surveillance photo has not been charged at this time. However, investigators would like to speak to him regarding his possible involvement in this incident.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts or identity of the individual in the surveillance photo is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

Investigators are not available for interviews at this time.
