April 17, 2014 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man following an incident at 14514 Chadbourne about 3:50 p.m. on Wednesday (April 16).
The male, Jason Lewis, 40, of the above address, was pronounced dead at Memorial City Memorial Hermann Hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Rhoads and Officer R. Ridel reported:
Mr. Lewis' girlfriend and mother found him acting irrationally and becoming violent toward himself, causing them to be fearful. Police and HFD paramedics were called to the residence. Lewis had broken mirrors in the house and began to slash himself with broken shards. As he was being treated, Lewis became more violent toward HFD personnel and was restrained by HPD and HFD personnel. He continued to strike his head on the ground. Moments later, he became still and handcuffs were removed. HFD paramedics administered CPR on Lewis and transported him to the hospital where he died.
As is customary in such incidents when someone becomes unresponsive in the presence of an HPD officer, the case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide and Internal Affairs Divisions.
