Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 8102 Glenheath

April 21, 2014 - The fatal shooting of a burglary suspect at 8102 Glenheath about 4 a.m. on Sunday (April 20) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The male suspect, 20, was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 56, was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:

The residents of the above address were awakened by a loud banging noise at their front door. The male homeowner retrieved his pistol and went to investigate. As he reached the back door, it was kicked in by a black male suspect, who then entered the residence. Fearing for his life, the homeowner fired his weapon at the suspect, who was struck. He was then taken by HFD paramedics to the hospital where he died.
