2nd Update: Suspect Wanted, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 8939 Long Point

August 11, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at 8939 Long Point about 9:45 a.m. on June 11.

The suspect, Lawrence Taylor (b/m, 23), is charged with capital murder in the 178th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Russell Soltani, 67, who died at Ben Taub General Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Burton and Senior Police Officer T. Miller reported:

Mr. Soltani had just arrived at the above address when he was approached by an unknown black male. According to witnesses, two gunshots were heard in the parking lot. An individual, described only as a black male, was then seen running from the parking lot carrying a container in one hand and a pistol in the other.

Further investigation identified Taylor as the suspect in this case and charges were filed against him today.

Taylor is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has a pronounced scar on the left side of his face, which resulted from an automobile accident.
