Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1720 College Street

August 15, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a male and the wounding of another at 1720 College Street about 3:15 p.m. on Thursday (August 14).

The victim, 29, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant N. Ruland and Officer I. Ulloa reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of the Waffle House restaurant at the above address. Officers arrived and were told by witnesses that several males were talking with each other in and around their respective vehicles. At some point, witnesses heard what they believed were several gunshots and then saw the victim's vehicle drive across the parking lot. The vehicle then struck a concrete curb. The victim died at the scene. Witnesses also stated the other vehicles, with several of the males inside, fled the scene in unknown directions. A second male was wounded during the gunfire and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he is expected to survive his injuries.
