July 7, 2014 - Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 700 Melbourne about 9:45 p.m. last Thursday (July 3).

The identity of the male victim, 50, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant C. Nickerson and Officer D. Henley reported:

The driver of a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound on Irvington when he made an unsafe turn onto Melbourne and struck the victim, a bicyclist crossing in the crosswalk at the intersection of Melbourne and Irvington.  The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver, 22, stopped and was questioned by investigators.  

No charges have been filed in the accident at this time.  The investigation is continuing.
