Houston Police Department
Investigation into Child's Death at 633 Rushcreek

July 17, 2014 - Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the apparent drowning of a toddler at 633 Rushcreek about 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday (July 16).

The identity of the baby boy, 11 months, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant B. Williams and Senior Police Officer D. Shorten reported:

An adult family friend was watching the infant and his three sisters, 3, 4, and 12 years of age, because the children's parents were at a hospital emergency room, as the mother had become ill. A bath was being drawn and the baby fell in, despite the bathroom door being closed by the person who started the bath water. The baby was found in a matter of minutes and 911 was called. Paramedics transported the boy to Houston Northwest Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed in this case. The investigation is continuing.
