Help Sought One Year Later in Fatal Shooting at 8200 Peachtree

March 19, 2014 - One year ago today (March 19), a man was found fatally shot at 8200 Peachtree and Houston police homicide investigators are marking the day by asking for the public's assistance in identifying his killer.

The victim, Dameon Johnson, 36, of Houston, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.  A photo of Mr. Johnson is attached to this news release.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Meeler and Senior Police Officer J. Villareal reported:

Officers responded to a call about 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, regarding a major traffic accident at the above location.  When they arrived, they discovered Mr. Johnson in a ditch along the roadway.  His vehicle, a 2008 white Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck, was in a ditch on the opposite side of the street.  The truck did not appear to be involved in a traffic accident.

Further investigation determined Johnson was on his way to work (to Auto Zone at 9403 Jensen Drive) at the time the shooting occurred.

One year later, there is no known motive or suspect(s) in the case.
