Suspect Arrested, Charged in Shooting of Man at 3388 Old Spanish Trail

March 26, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the shooting of a man at 3388 Old Spanish Trail about 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday (March 25).

The suspect, Omar Fareed (b/m, 54), is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and felon in possession of a weapon in the 262nd State District Court.  He is accused in the wounding of Joshua Hicks, 26, of Houston.  Mr. Hicks was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Garcia and Officer C. Cardenas reported:

Mr. Hicks and Fareed were washing cars for tips at a car wash service at the above address when Fareed asked Hicks for a towel.  The two men got into an argument and Fareed pulled out a gun and shot Hicks several times.  Paramedics transported Hicks to the hospital.  Fareed fled the scene, but was taken into custody at a nearby location a short time later.
