Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Traffic Accident at 8100 Lenore

May 5, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal traffic accident at 8100 Lenore about 8:10 p.m. on Sunday (May 4).  

The suspect, Euaristo Hinojosa-Pena (H/m, 58), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #2.  A photo of Hinosoja-Pena is attached to this news release.  

The male victim, 8, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Roberts and Senior Police Officer J. Gaona reported:  

According to witnesses, Hinojosa-Pena was traveling in a maroon Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck at a high rate of speed, westbound on Lenore.  As the victim attempted to cross the street on his bicycle, he was struck by the pickup.  The victim was then transported to the hospital where he died.  The suspect remained at the scene until HPD patrol officers arrived and took him into custody.  

The suspect was found to be intoxicated and he was subsequently charged.  The investigation is continuing.
