Serial Burglar Hauled In

May 21, 2014 - Charges have been filed against a suspect believed responsible for committing at least 14 burglaries of businesses in the Houston area since early March.

The suspect, identified as Torron Jermaine Alexander (b/m, 42), is charged with two counts of burglary of a building in the 248th State District Court.  A photo of Alexander is attached to this news release.

Alexander targeted U-Haul stores and Community Self Storage businesses and is accused in the following incidents:



  • March 3 - U-Haul at 6505 Fondren
  • March 3 - U-Haul at 10621 Main
  • March 17 - Community Self Storage at 2515 Washington Avenue
  • March 18 - Community Self Storage at 2515 Washington Ave.
  • March 22 - U-Haul at 14225 Northwest Freeway
  • March 23 - Community Self Storage at 2101 South Voss
  • March 24 - Community Self Storage at 12906 Fry Road (Harris County)
  • March 26 - U-Haul at 8550 State Highway 6 North (Harris County)
  • March 30 - U-Haul at 10220 Old Katy Road
  • March 30 - Community Self Storage at 2515 Washington Ave.
  • April 13 - Community Self Storage at 2101 South Voss
  • April 14 - U-Haul at 5503 Almeda Road
  • April 22 - U-Haul at 2222 Southwest Freeway
  • April 27 - U-Haul at 6808 Bissonnet


Investigators stated Alexander arrived at each business during closing hours driving a stolen U-Haul truck, picked up a landscaping rock and shattered glass at the business to gain entry.  Once inside, he stole cash and televisions.

Authorities in Fort Bend County arrested Alexander following a short vehicle pursuit on May 5.  He remains in the Fort Bend County Jail on charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, felony evading and a burglary of a U-Haul in that county.

At 10 a.m. TODAY (Wed, May 21), an investigator in the HPD Burglary and Theft Division will be available to answer questions in these cases at the HPD Westside Patrol Station at 3203 South Dairy Ashford   (Key map 488-Z).
