Investigation into Incident at 7400 West Tidwell

November 04, 2014 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of a robbery suspect by an off-duty Harris County Precinct 7 deputy constable at 7400 West Tidwell about 2:30 p.m. on Monday (November 3).  

The male suspect was transported via Life Flight Helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital in an unknown condition.  

The deputy constable who discharged his duty weapon suffered a head injury and was transported to Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital where he was treated and released.  

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant J. Robles and Officer I. Ulloa reported:  

The deputy constable was off-duty and in plain clothes returning to the restaurant from a bank.  As he was walking to the restaurant, he was approached by two black male suspects.  One of the suspects, armed with a pipe wrench, then struck the deputy constable in the head and attempted to steal the bank bag.  Fearing for his life, the deputy constable discharged his duty weapon and struck one of the suspects.  Both suspects then fled the scene in their vehicle.

Both suspects were later located and taken into custody at Willowbrook Methodist Hospital.  

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.    

As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Homicide Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
