UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting at 3100 Gillespie

November 20, 2014 - Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man at 3100 Gillespie about 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday (November 18).

The suspect, Francis E. Otalor (b/m, 58), is charged with murder in the 262nd State District Court.  A photo of Otalor is attached to this news release.

He is accused in the death of Derrick Beasley, 48, who was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant T. Simmons and Officer S. Overstreet reported:  

Mr. Beasley and a male suspect were in the suspect's apartment and got into an argument.  At some point, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Bealsey.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and transported Beasley to the hospital.  The suspect (Otalor) was detained at the scene by responding HPD patrol officers and later charged for his role in the shooting.
