Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 4910 Andrea

November 10, 2014 - The fatal shooting of a man at 4910 Andrea about 7 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 9) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The deceased male, Dennis Gibson, 36, of the above address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The male shooter, 62, was not injured in the incident.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant K. Tolls and Senior Police Officer R. Cervantes reported:

Mr. Gibson and a male family member (shooter) got into an altercation at their residence.  During the altercation, Gibson attempted to take a cane the male uses to get around the house away from him.  Both men then got into a struggle over the cane.  As Gibson became more violent, the male attempted to leave the residence and made his way toward the front door.  Gibson then grabbed him and pulled him back into the house.  Fearing for his safety, the male pulled out a pistol from his robe pocket and attempted to scare Gibson into letting him leave.  Gibson then reached out for the pistol and knocked the male off balance.  As the male fell, the pistol discharged, fatally striking Gibson.
