September 4, 2014 -Houston police are investigating a fatal traffic accident at 10600 Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 9 p.m. on Wednesday (September 3).  

The male victim, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Rossman and Officer R. Bymaster reported:  

The driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on the inside emergency lane of the Katy Freeway and struck a gray International 4700 commercial truck, stopped in the same emergency lane.  The commercial truck driver, who was standing outside the vehicle, was struck by his vehicle.  The driver of the Chevrolet died at the scene.  The driver of the commercial truck was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital with severe, but non life-threatening injuries.
