Composite Sketch of Suspect Wanted in Police Impersonation Investigation

September 11, 2014 - Houston police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted in a police impersonation incident about 4:10 p.m. on August 14.

The suspect is described only as a black male in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall andweighing 130 pounds.  A composite sketch of the suspect is attached to this news release.

A Harris County Precinct 7 deputy constable assigned to the Harris County Toll Road Division stopped a vehicle later determined to have been stolen from the 5600 block of Irish Hill in March.  While questioning the suspect, the deputy noticed he was wearing a police type badge around his neck and was armed with a handgun.  The suspect then told the deputy he was employed as a law enforcement officer in Harris County.

During the investigation, the deputy determined the license plates on the suspect's vehicle did not match the registration sticker.  The deputy became suspicious and again asked the suspect where he worked, to which the suspect replied that he worked for a constable's office.  The deputy gave the suspect verbal commands to exit the vehicle, which the suspect refused.  The suspect then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.

The Harris County Precinct 7 deputy initiated a vehicle pursuit, but lost the suspect in a neighborhood.  A short time later, information was broadcast over the deputy's police radio regarding a vehicle and a male matching the suspect's description involved in an accident with a parked truck in the 13500 block of Summit Ridge.  As witnesses to the accident went to check on the suspect, he exited the vehicle and fled through the neighborhood.  When one witness pursued the suspect and confronted him, the suspect pointed a gun at the witness and threatened to shoot him.  The suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Major Offenders Division at 713-308-3100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
